SIFF pushes forward, with a busy week of guest appearances, North American and World Premieres, and the Centerpiece Gala screening of Boots Riley's Sorry To Bother You on June 2, a live score presentation at The Triple Door on May 31, featuring the classic film L'inferno, and the Opening Night presentation and gala at the Kirkland Performance Center, featuring The Drummer and the Keeper, on May 31.

THE MOST DANGEROUS YEAR | 90 Minutes - Locally produced, with a message that should be heard around the country and the world, The Most Dangerous Year focuses on a political battle in 2016, in the State of Washington, around transgender rights and the push from conservative organizations and politicians to introduce "bathroom bills" and discriminatory legislation that would undo more than a decade of equal rights legislation for transgender persons in Washington state. Topical, well-made, and powerful, this is a fair-minded, factual, enlightening documentary.

THAT SUMMER | 80 Minutes - The legendary documentary Grey Gardens is revisited with new vintage footage, believed to be lost, giving us another glimpse into Big and Little Edie as they toil away in the East Hamptons.

THE THIRD MURDER | 124 Minutes - On the heels of his winning the Palme d'or at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival for his new film Shoplifters, director Hirokazu Kore-eda unveils his previous film, which won six Japan Academy Prizes, including Best Film. Detailing a murder trial where an attorney's client's confession is called into question, The Third Murder is one of the most highly-anticipated films in the SIFF schedule this year.
